The Disc Jockey

wedding djThere are other forms of DJ’s such as the Mobile DJ. They normally are something of a cross between a club DJ and Radio DJ mixing music with conversation with the audience. They travel to their venues with their entire sound systems and prerecorded music for requests. It is often a teased profession but it requires extensive knowledge of equipment, electronics, DJ skills, organisation and vocal talent as well as being able to promote themselves in order to get the work.  Previously large amounts of vinyl was needed to cater for the music tastes of the venue they were going to, later to be replaced with CD’s,  but with the advent of digital music and laptop mixing the volume of equipment can be somewhat reduced. Typical venues that these DJ’s are found are private parties, weddings, birthdays and any event where a DJ is needed but no sound system is available.

The classification of what a DJ is has changed vastly over the 100 years of first conception and split into new and exciting avenues for professionals and amateurs to pursue. As technology continues to develop more and more is being made possible for DJ’s and the popularity and diversity of music culture continues to thrive it can be certain that there will continue to be more new and exciting DJ’s appearing on the music scene.
